  120. ===== Installation =====================================
  121.  
  122. The installation procedure for BEAM COOKBOOK is quite simple.  The
  123. package includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the
  124. entire process.  You will need about 1.3 Mb of available disk space
  125. on the hard drive on which you plan to install BEAM COOKBOOK.
  126.  
  127. INSTALLING FROM A CD-ROM
  128.  
  129. If this CD-ROM has a working version of BEAM COOKBOOK use the following
  130. steps otherwise use "INSTALL FROM A HARD DRIVE" instructions.
  131.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" from the directory on the CD-ROM.
  132.       Example: "K:\CD_ROM\INSTALL".
  133.  
  134. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  135.  
  136. If you downloaded BEAM COOKBOOK from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  137. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  138. following steps.
  139.  
  140.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  141.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  142.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  143.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  144.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  145.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  146.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  147.       the package.
  148.  
  149.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  150.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  151.       the BEAM COOKBOOK package is C:\TEMP, you would execute the
  152.       MS-DOS command, "c:\temp\install".

  154.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  155.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  156.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  157.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  158.       the BEAM COOKBOOK files to that directory.  The installation
  159.       program will copy the executable programs, documentation, and
  160.       samples (optional) in the directory of your choice.  It will make
  161.       no other changes; specifically, it will not modify your
  162.       autoexec.bat or config.sys files.

  164. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  165. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed BEAM COOKBOOK
  166. (C:\TEMP, in the above discussion), including all its contents.
